Nostalgia
Kingman Airport was built buy the US Government during WW II for the purpose of training Army Air Force personnel gunnery defense in various Air Force Aircraft. The airport was given to Mohave County in 1950's. It was named Kingman Airport. Many of WW II Army barrack foundations still remain.
There are approximately five original hangers in use, many have been restored and up-dated, the exterior of the hangers are original. The Flight Control tower is still standing though not in operation.

WWII Crash Sites
During the WWII war Arizona has many sites that were used for a number of reasons, some Rest/ Recreation others used as training bases, one such training site was Kingman Airport. During WWII Kingman airport was used as a gunnery Training site, Yucca was a rest/recreation site as was Lake Havasu City. One such desaster was a B-25 flight from Yuma on a training flight flew below the clouds and crashed into the Mountains. Having visited this site early the remains of the aircraft was visable, engine down in the wash, not to far away a wheel strut. These have been removed by vandals.
More information regarding such site can be found at the "Links" address below.
