Before I begin to discuss my advertising strategy I'd like to point out that this is just one way to go about promoting Profit Rally. It is not a step-by-step guide, but an overview of how I go about marketing. I don't feel a step-by-step guide is practical as everyone is different with differing skills and time constraints. All the methods below can be employed by anyone, and are free.
The bulk of my advertising revolves around 5 types of promotion resources. FFA's and classifieds, Safelists, Lead Generation, Ezines and Traffic Exchanges.
To be successful you'll need to set at least 1 or 2 hours aside each day to work on promoting your business. Preferably this time should be time that you can spend undistracted by other things.
You will also need at least 3 email accounts. 1 for safelists, 1 for FFA and classified submissions and 1 for personal mail. You can get a reliable Free email account or 2 from Yahoo.com or you can try any of the accounts at the following link. http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_pop.htm
Your first task each day should be to check your emails. Try not to use any spam filtering on your business email as you may find important email gets filtered out.
Go through each email in your personal account or accounts and delete all the junk. Then go through what's left, and reply to anything that needs a reply. It's a good idea to save all correspondence, you may need it in future. Also save any emails that have user details or are payment related.
After that go through your FFA and Safelist email accounts. You'll probably find a lot of mail in these accounts so you won't have time to read it all. Instead what you want to do is scan through the subject lines and look for anything that catches your eye. If you find something of interest, save it for later use. By reading the subject lines you can often find new subject lines for your own advertising. After saving anything you find of interest you can delete the rest.
The next thing to do is post ads to FFA's and classifieds sites. FFA's tend to scroll off the board fairly quickly so need to be refreshed at least once a day if not twice. Classifieds tend to vary in the ways they work. Some are set for a specific time from 1 to 7 days whilst others will scroll off the board like FFA Sites. Try to post ads for the shortest duration possible and replace them as soon as possible to keep them viewable.
It is worth noting also that you can place more than one ad with most FFa and classified sites. So why not place some ads for any advertising resources that you use that have membership benefits attached. For instance I use lead generation programs that enable me to mail my downline once a week about any opportunity I like. So while posting to about Profit Rally I also post a few ads to advertise these. Save any ads you use in a word or notepad document and you can then just cut and paste your ads saving you a lot of typing time.
When Posting to FFA's or Classified sites remember to use the email address that you set up specifically for this purpose and never use your personal email account, as you will receive a lot of confirmation emails from them. Some people ask why I don't use the safelist account for this. Well the reason is, because some FFA's and classified sites require you to click a confirmation link inside an email. Your safelist account will have a lot more email flowing to it than the FFA and classifieds account, and trying to find the right email can be awkward in your safelist account.
The other daily chore that needs to be done is to post to your safelists. Depending on your membership level you'll be able to daily, every 48 hours or weekly, so you'll normally have at least 1 or 2 that you can mail to on any given day. You'll be pleased to know that there are plenty of tools out there that will either semi automate or fully automate your safelist submissions, and all you need to do then is change the ads on a regular basis (visit the Tools section for some of these).
Again if your using any advertising resources with membership benefits why not try a few ads for those to increase your advertising base. As you will have noticed I have set up a page that contains all advertising resources, so I advertise that with a headline like - 'Totally FREE Advertising Resouces - No Strings Attached!!'
When placing ads you may want to set up a spreadsheet or some sort of planner to keep track of what ads you placed and when. Profit Rallys Link Tracker is a good tool for this. It lets you see how many people actually clicked on a link and where the click came from. In this way you can easily find out which ads are working and which are not.
It's also a good idea to rotate your ads on a regular basis to prevent people seeing the same subject lines over and over. That's where scanning your FFA and Safelist mail comes in. By looking at other Peoples headlines you can often come up new and fresh ideas for your own advertising.
Having gotten the daily tasks done there are plenty of other things that can be done. Now rather than trying to do everything in one day, and get frustrated, try setting up something to do on each day. This method will eliminate any repetitive or boring tasks.
For instance after I've done my daily chores, I'll spend some time surfing the traffic exchanges one day, the Next day I'll go through my saved Safelist mail and work on writing new Ads and Subject Lines, the next I'll place some ezine ads. You can also spend time searching the net for new advertising resources, such as new safelists (you can never have to many) or FFA's, and new companies offering different advertising resources are starting up all the time.
The methods I've used here are just a few of the ways to advertise your business. Forums can be another good resource for both new ideas and to advertise. Read through the messages and reply to posts that spark your interest or that may need further explanation. Unless the forum specifically permits it, don't place any ads in your messages (it'll be considered spaming, your post will be removed and you may be banned from the forum) but instead register with the forum and set up a signature and place links to your business in that. Your message will then stay on the forum for every one to read along with your signature file.
At the start of each week draw yourself up a plan of what you want you want to accomplish in that week and tick off each item as you accomplish each goal. Don't worry if you didn't accomplish each goal. Sometimes things take longer than expected or daily life gets in the way. The thing is to be persistent. Spend as much time promoting your business as you can. It will surely grow. Don't expect great things over night. Be patient!
Well that's it from me. Have fun with your new business.
