URL Rotator

Before moving on to setting up your traffic exchange links, it's a good idea to set up the URL Rotator so you can enter its link in all the traffic exchanges that accept Rotators.

(Note : If you are using a pop up blocker you may need to set it to allow pop ups from Profit Rally, as some of the links on the Rotator page will open a new window.)

If you are a free member then you can enter 5 Urls into rotater but can ad as many as you like when you upgrade. I have 2 Profit Rally links in mine plus the best of my other programs.

By using the rotator you can easily change the sites that you are promoting in the exchanges by simply logging into the rotator and altering the links it contains. Without this you would have to manually log into all your exchanges and alter the links in each one at a time.

To access the Rotator simply click the 'URL Rotator' menu item on the left of the screen.

You should then see this screen.

At the top of the page you'll see your personal rotator url, which you'll later insert into the traffic exchanges.

At the bottom of the page you'll see the 'Add a new URL' text box.

This is where you type in the url's you want to appear in the rotator. For each url you enter you can also set a weight for each one. This allows you to decide which urls in the rotator are shown the most often. The higher the weight the more frequently the page is shown.

You can also tell the rotator if the url you entered has a pop up attached to it. This is a handy feature as some traffic exchanges don't allow pop ups, in which case the rotator wont display that particular page in the exchange (note this feature only works with exchanges that Profit Rally list).

After you have entered a url and set its weight and whether or not the page has a pop up click the 'Ad URL' button. The page will then be tested to make sure it is compatible with the Traffic Exchanges. Your page will open in a new widow and a timer will start.

Let the timer count down to 0. You will then see a 'Confirm this Link' button. Click the button and if everything is ok your page will be replaced with the following message.

Again click the 'Confirm This Link' button and you'll be taken back to the rotator page.

Once you have entered a few urls in the rotator it'll look something like this.

To the left of each url you'll see a 'Test' link. This simply repeats the test to make sure your pages are compatible with the traffic exchanges. It's a handy feature in case a company makes any changes to a page you are advertising. Once you click the link your page will open in a new widow and a timer will start.

Let the timer count down to 0. Another link next to the timer will appear - 'Click here to test for exit popups or an exit frame breaker.'

Click the link and if you see the following message displayed in the window then your page will be accepted by the Traffic Exchanges.

To the right of each url you'll see the number of Hits each page has received, the weight you set each to, whether the page contains a pop up, edit link, delete, link, Stats link, Reset Stats link and whether the page is to be shown framed.

The 'Edit' link will allow you to alter the url you entered if you ever have to, plus you can add more information about the url. You can add a title and short description about the page and have this shown along with your page in the traffic exchanges, this is what the 'Show Framed ?' refers to.

When you click on edit you'll see the following.

If you want to display a description with your page simply enter a Title and a description in the boxes provided and check the yes radio control next to 'Show this URL inside the promotion frame?'.

Click the 'Update Data for this URL' button and the details will be saved. When your page is shown it'll then appear like the image below when shown in the exchanges.

If you wish to view exactly how your page will look, click on 'Preview' to the right of the description of the page in the URL list.

The 'Delete' link does exactly as it says and will delete the link from the rotator. If you just want to temporarily remove or stop a link from being displayed then you may want to simply set it's weight to 0. You can then simply give it a weight of 1 or above to reactivate it and avoid the hassle of deleteing and re-entering information each time you want to stop a URL's promotion for any reason.

The 'Stats' link gives you a break down of how many times your page has been viewed each day during the last 30 days. When you click the Stats link a new window will pop up displaying the information.

The 'Reset Stats' link will reset your entire Hits back to 0 and clear your stats page. This can be handy if you want to see how many hit
