Workforce Investment Act, Section 167
Purpose:
To assist migrant and seasonal farm workers and families achieve economic self-sufficiency by providing supportive services while they work in agriculture or by assisting them to acquire new job skills in occupations offering better pay and a more stable employment outlook.
Classes:
Adult Basic Skills: The fundamental skills curriculum covers third through eighth grade reading, language arts, spelling, vocabulary, and mathematics.
GED preparation: Correlated to the latest GED standards and covers writing, reading, social studies, science, and mathematics. Upon completion, students can take NovaNET's online GED preparation test and receive an immediate indication of their ability to pass the official GED test.
ESL (English as a Second Language): Designed to help students with English as their second language learn English. The ESL curriculum uses words, graphics and sound (digitized audio) to introduce common vocabulary.
