Meet our sister team, the River Sisters
Our Mission Statement
The River Sisters is a women's dragon boat team
dedicated to the continuing growth of our members' minds, bodies and spirits.
By building camaraderie in a respectful and supportive environment,
we are able to increase our own physical fitness and spiritual well being.
We welcome women of all ages, abilities and fitness levels
and strive to encourage a passion for the ancient art of dragon boating.
By participating in community services, we are a supportive influence
for cancer survirors in the South Jersey area.
About Our Team
We were organized in the spring of 2007 as a Cancer Survivor and Care Giver dragon boat team. Our mentors are the members of the River Sirens, our sister team and the original inspiration behind bringing dragon boating to the Cooper River, a great location with a new boathouse facility, right here in South Jersey. They raise money annually for the Cooper Cancer Institute. In appreciation for their efforts, , the River Sirens received a grant from the Cancer Institute to purchase their own dragon boat, in exchange for organizing and mentoring our Survivor/Care Giver team. They have been wonderful mentors and friends! Annually, we participate in the Paddle for Pink Festival, in Mercerville, NJ and the Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festive.
We paddle because we can, we paddle for those who cannot.
(River Sisters were formerly known as Hope Floats)
