Stories, Experiences, Etc...

Open Letter from Yangon

Dear Sisters -
This is Wah Wah from 2001 batch. I'm going to Institute of Medicine (1) in Yangon right now.  This is my first year here so my schedule is filled with classes and classes and classes but nothing else. It's quite boring, to be honest. Well, you know what it's like. It's more or less the same as going to high school although this is much crazier and we don't wear uniforms anymore.

I miss those days I hang out with my friends at Maha Myaing Zaung where our 9th Std. and 10th Std. classrooms are, and of course, the great Sabae Zaung. There's nothing extraordinary about my experiences at Sanchaung (2), but each and everyday of my last year there was so special. I may be out of my mind but I even miss wearing my white and green uniforms now. My sister, Phyu Sin, is in the 7th Std. there and she's having so much fun running about Tharahpe Zaung and the monh-zay-dan (canteen) - still in her whites and greens. Actually, she can't do too much of that right now as she's having her final exams. But she's so looking forward to having her summer vacation. We can't have those little moments anymore, can we? I guess we all miss those days one way or another now that we've become a bit older and started thinking about our future. Finishing high school or taking off those uniforms for good is like telling us, "Grow up!! You are old enough to start being an adult. Act like an adult at least." No more sweet-for-nothing days... but days filled with ambition and determination. Not that it's so bad, but I miss the days I spent at Sancaung (2) where we didn't care much about anything. Ok, I'll stop whining here, and go, do the adult thing - studying.  ; p

Thanks for giving me this opportunity to tell you about myself. I'm so happy I can be in touch with many of my schoolmates and learn about your experiences abroad. I plan to go abroad at least for a tour after I become a doctor. Perhaps I can go for my further studies in another country like UK or US too. I'd love to hear more stories about your experiences abroad, especially in the healthcare industry or graduate education in medicine or biotechnology or public health. Also let me know if I can tell you more about Yangon or anything.

Many thanks,
Wint Wah Myint Oo (2001)
