Servo Connectors
You can mix Futaba, Airtronics, Hitec
& JR servos with The ScaleMaster Decoder. You may only select one servo type for
sensitivity adjustment. All other servos will work based on the setting for the
selected brand servo. Some motion may be erratic, depending on which servo you
select to use for the "0" set adjustment, and it's compatibility with your other
servos.
It is always best to use one brand of servo. However, I have had great results using
Futaba for everything except retract, for which I use HiTec. With a little
experimentation between brands you will find the best combination to use. As the Servo
Wire plugs into the ScaleMaster Decoder, no matter what servo, the wires must match as
follows:
far Left = black (-) voltage
Center = Red (+) voltage
far Right = Signal
When in doubt the color code is printed on the Decoder Face Decal (as seen
below)

It is not need to re-arrange any wires in the handle, to
the Encoder PCB as all connectors come wired from the factory. However, should you need to
change a plug, pre-made wire assembly w/switches are available. In a pinch you can
substitute a Deans P.N. 1003 3 pin connector.
Make sure that the Signal lead is on the center pin. This is critical for
servo reversing as explained in the ScaleMaster Operating Manual, furnished with the
Handle.
As of December 1997, Airtronics is now shipping
servos with an optional "Z" connector that matches the connector found on JR
Radio or Hitec servos. This means that if you have an Airtronics servo with one of the
"Z" connectors, you won't have to switch (+) and (-) wires to use that servo
with The ScaleMaster.
If you want to switch the wires around,
almost all the connectors have little tabs or pins that you can push with a small pin to
remove the wires and push them back into the connector in the right place.
For Futaba, JR, & Hitec servos (or Airtronics
"Z" connector), use this diagram:

You can cut off the three little 'teeth' on the
Airtronics connector to get it to match the rest of your servo connectors.
Below are the four standard connectors that are used by the 'big' four radio and
Servo manufacturers:
