Core Kinetics integrates the philosophies and teachings of Joseph Pilates with more recent innovations in movement therapies such as Feldenkrais, soft-tissue work and joint mobilization. Students can learn the work in Group Mat Classes or Private Reformer Sessions.
What is Pilates? Joseph H. Pilates, (pronounced puh-lah-tees), developed a form of exercise in the late 1920’s that utilizes some of the principles of yoga and weight lifting to promote strength and flexibility, tone without bulk, and most importantly balance and function. Training develops proper breathing, the mind/body connection, postural alignment, strengthening of the abdominals and other postural support muscles and frees the body to perform at its most efficient and harmonious level. Exercises can be performed in mat classes or using the spring resistance of equipment such as the Reformer.
