About the Sayre Black Diamonds: The Sayre Black Diamonds were formed in 1997 by Jason Wheeler and were an immediate success. Wheeler led the squad to a 10-6 mark in 1998 and 14-2 in 1999 (under the sponsor name Valley Express). The team took a hiatus from the STABL in 2000, but returned in 2001 to go 13-8. Again, Sayre disappeared from the league after the 2001 season, but posted an 11-7 record in the Steuben County Baseball League in 2004. In 2005, the Black Diamonds again returned, this time managed by Mark Nobles, winning their division and making the STABL Championship game. John Pack has taken over the reigns of the team, but as long as Sayre is in the league, look for them to be atop the West Division.
