Summer 2003 Dada Events Surrounding the Play.
Spontaneous Events Schedule Sunday, May 18th, 2003 - Join Richard Huelsenbeck as he emcees ArtistSalon at the Outdoor Amphitheatre of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Starts at 4pm and goes until 10pm. Here are other Dada events we will be doing. Check back for more details! A. CABARET VOLTAIRE 2003 Hugo Ball placed a small advertisement in the local Zurich newspaper that read: "Cabaret Voltaire. Under this name a group of young artists and writers has been formed whose aim is to create a center for artistic entertainment. The idea of the cabaret will be that guest artists will come and give musical performances and readings at the daily events. The young artists of Zurich, whatever their orientation, are invited to come along with suggestions and contributions of all kinds." This was the beginning of the formation of the group that created Dada. We will duplicate this quote and place it in Los Angeles newspapers with the plan of holding CABARET VOLTAIRE 2003 after the Thursday performance of THE DADAISTS each and every week during the run of the play. Each week will have a different guest host from the local art scene to commandeer the events of the evening. Flyers will be circulated in different foreign languages and in local neighborhood presses as well. This will be an opportunity for artists and anyone to openly express in an environment mirroring the play, thus bringing Dada into an interactive experiential motif. B. DRUM CIRCLES African Beats was a highly influential ingredient to the formation of Dada and each Friday evening after the performance, the stage will open up for a two-hour DRUM CIRCLE, open to audience members and the public. C. SPONTANEOUS PROMOTIONAL EVENTS The Actors involved in the play will perform performance excerpts from THE DADAISTS at specially designated venues that will be selected to generate a high volume of awareness on the project. We are in sponsorship discussions with liquor companies and the Spontaneous Events Schedule will be available for viewing on this page. D. POTENTIAL AUDIENCES TO PROMOTE DADA 18-34 males
and females. The
MET Theatre Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
