Drifting
by Michelle Stace

My anchor line has come loose;
I slowly drift and familiar surroundings grow distant.
Caught in a current,
I find myself alone in stormy waters.

How did it happen so quickly?
First one problem, then another and another came my way.
Taking my eyes off Jesus, I tried solving them myself.
My confusion grows and so does my fear.
In despair I keep looking for a life-line;
Is there any hope?

Time passes . . . I spend time in God’s word,
and it becomes my stronghold.
My focus gradually shifts from my
circumstances to my God.
The Lord has drawn me back to His safe harbor.

The storms of life still pound,
But my eyes are on the One who
gives shelter and a place of rest.
