Looking Back . . . Looking Forward
by Michelle Stace

Looking back across the years I see the
remnants of many failures.
The years of unbelief are filled with relics of unkept promises,
failed commitments, broken people.
There was vanity, lies and bondage.
There were little ones who needed tenderness and patience.
There were hurtful words that cannot be unsaid . . .

Then the years of belief began . . . so much to overcome;
so many fears, hindrances and problems.
The growth seemed so slow, but the Father was faithful
to this one of little faith.

There’s nothing I can do to change the past,
and I’m told to forget what lies behind,

and look forward to what lies ahead . . .

I look forward to the miracles yet to be brought about in
my life by the Faithful One.
I look forward to learning the deep, unfathomable things
of the Lord . . . things that I see only a glimmer of . . .
as if in a mirror dimly.

I look forward to the golden opportunities to serve my Savior.
And I look forward to the painful times that I know
will deepen my faith, and love,
and reliance upon my Heavenly Father.
